Dr Richard Cash, BA (Hons) PsyD

Richard Cash is a psychologist with vast experience in the treatment of posttraumatic mental health problems within the Veteran community. He has worked previously as the Deputy Director of the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service in Victoria. Richard has extensive training experience and is passionate about championing evidence-based interventions within allied health.

Dr Vanessa Cobham, BA (Hons) (Psych) PhD (Clin) MAPS (CCLIN; CCOUN)

Vanessa Cobham is a facilitator of the Trauma-Focussed Therapy – Working with Children & Adolescents program. She is a senior clinical psychologist at the Child and Youth Mental Health Service for Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health District. She also holds an appointment as a Principal Research Fellow at the Mater Research Institute in Brisbane and as a senior lecturer at the School of Psychology, The University of Queensland. Vanessa is an international leader in child and adolescent anxiety disorders and youth posttraumatic mental health following natural disasters. Since 2006 she has been involved in leading large-scale screening and indicated intervention programs for children and adolescents following natural disasters, on behalf of the Queensland Government and beyondblue.

Dr Rowena Conroy, BA (Hons Psych), MPsychol (Clin), PhD, MAPS (MCCLP), MACPA

Rowena Conroy is a facilitator of the Trauma-Focussed Therapy – Working with Children & Adolescents program. She holds an appointment at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital as Senior Clinical Psychologist and Coordinator of Education and Training in Psychology, and is Coordinator of Postgraduate Child Clinical Psychology Teaching at the University of Melbourne. She has extensive clinical experience in the field of trauma, and is an experienced trainer and presenter in this area.

Dr Elizabeth Cosgrave, BA GradDipAppPsych DPsych MAPS (CCLIN)

Elizabeth Cosgrave is a facilitator of the Trauma-Focussed Therapy – Working with Children & Adolescents program. She is a clinical psychologist working in private practice, and is a sessional lecturer for the clinical doctoral programs at the universities of Melbourne, Deakin and Swinburne. Dr Cosgrave has previously worked as a clinical psychologist at Orygen Youth Health, and in an academic role at Orygen Research Centre.

Anne-Laure Couineau, BA GradDip (CounsPsych) MA (CounsPsych) Associate MAPS

Anne-Laure Couineau is a psychologist with extensive experience in the treatment of posttraumatic mental health problems in hospital and community settings. She has specialised in the treatment of war veterans and emergency personnel diagnosed with PTSD, and the effects of long-term childhood sexual abuse and neglect. Anne-Laure has a strong background in education and knowledge translation. She has also completed a fellowship with the National Institute of Clinical Studies focusing on the implementation of evidence-based treatment of PTSD.

Professor Brett McDermott, BMedSci MBBS FRANZCP CertChildPsych MD

Brett McDermott is a facilitator of the Trauma-Focussed Therapy – Working with Children & Adolescents program. He is a child psychiatrist with particular expertise in posttraumatic stress disorders and eating disorders. He is a Director of beyondblue, a member of the Australian National Mental Health Disaster Response Committee and Taskforce, and until recently was Director of the Mater Child and Youth Mental Health Service in Brisbane and Professorial Fellow at the Mater Medical Research Institute. He has been responsible for the screening of children and adolescents for PTSD following natural disasters in Queensland.

Jane Nursey, BBSc Grad Dip Child & Adol Psych MPsych (Clin Neuro)

Jane Nursey is a clinical neuropsychologist. She has worked in public acute and mental health services across Melbourne for 18 years, including with CAMHS and Adult and Aged Care services. Jane is an experienced presenter and trainer in the field of trauma and coordinated a treatment service for bushfire survivors following the Victorian bushfires in February 2009.

Dr Andrea Phelps, BA (Hons) MPsych (Clin) PhD MAPS (CCLIN)

Andrea Phelps is a clinical psychologist who has worked for 20 years in the mental health field, and has specialised in posttraumatic mental health since 2003. She is Director, Policy and Service Development at Phoenix Australia. Within the PTSD field, Andrea’s particular research and clinical interest is in the area of sleep and nightmares. She has completed a PhD on this topic.

Associate Professor Darryl Wade, BA (Hons) MA (ClinPsych) PhD MAPS (CCLIN)

Darryl Wade is a clinical psychologist with many years’ experience in public and private mental health settings. He is Director of Education and Training at Phoenix Australia. He has published widely on posttraumatic mental health issues. Darryl is an experienced presenter, practitioner and project leader in posttraumatic mental health.
